Sanders Yard - A 3-star family-owned inn with characterful rooms and an onsite bistro in Whitby's historic district

Sanders Yard offers four en-suite guest rooms and three holiday cottages tucked along cobbled Church Street, 600 meters from Whitby Abbey and a five-minute walk from Whitby's sandy beaches. Rooms feature Botham's of Whitby biscuits, Yorkshire tea, and unique details like sleigh beds or roll-top baths, while Jade Attic includes low beams on its second-floor location. The onsite Sanders Yard Bistro serves home-cooked breakfast, brunch, and lunch with gluten-free and vegan options, using locally sourced ingredients in its courtyard dining area. Three cottages-Dove Cottage, Old Dispensary, and Old Chocolate Shop-provide multi-level stays with features like beamed ceilings, leather sofas, and dishwashers; the latter two welcome well-behaved dogs for an additional fee. The property faces Whitby's Old Market Place, with the train and bus stations a five-minute walk away.

Pros

The Old Chocolate Shop cottage includes a roll-top bath and views of West Cliff from its double rooms.

Sanders Yard Bistro offers covered outdoor seating with heaters for courtyard dining.

Dog-friendly cottages provide direct access to Church Street's shops and restaurants.

Rooms feature locally sourced amenities like Yorkshire tea and Botham's biscuits.

Cons

The Old Dispensary's multi-level layout is unsuitable for guests with mobility limitations.

Limited on-street parking near Church Street, particularly during summer months.
