lovely historic stay

the room was larger than expected and i liked the bathroom. it had excellent choices for hot food on the breakfast menu. i was able to leave my bags on arrival as i was early (so i could start exploring!).
i know it's an older hotel, so it wasn't the cleanest. the window in my room did not properly work and the smell of the room was not great.

this hotel has a very convenient location. it is an easy distance to jane austen's home and chawton, taking only about 30 minutes to walk. it is right in the middle of town.

this is a lovely historic hotel. the staff were great. i found the check-in to be friendly and helpful. the rooms were very comfy and tidy, and the superior rooms are large.

The staff showed attentiveness, service was efficient. It was exemplary. the bed proved supremely comfortable. i noticed lighting in the room could be improved since the main lighting, when on, left almost everything in half shadow. the angle-poise lamps added visibility within a limited range.
The paintwork was tired and a bit run down as i approached my room. It felt a little disappointing.

I found a lovely evening meal, and there are nice places to eat around the high street. the breakfast offered plenty of choice. I especially enjoyed the selection of fruit. pastries and cooked breakfast options were really enjoyable!

the room was comfortable and quiet, even though it was in the town center. my double room felt spacious and met all expectations. the hotel provides ample parking to the rear with easy access.

The hotel location is easy to find. There is good parking at the rear. the hotel sits right in the center of town! the train station is also just a short ten minute walk.

I found the staff helpful. They handled my early check-in without any issues. The breakfast was tasty. I also appreciated the comfortable beds.
The room door shut loudly, I thought it needed quieter self-closers. The shower was difficult to operate. I found that the hotel showed its age in places.

The large bedroom had a bed that was super comfy. The shower was strong. I noted a decent hairdryer was in the room and there was an iron and ironing board too.
The bedside light did not work, and two staff members seemed unprepared to help.
