Excellent Stay for Walking Group

clean room friendly staff excellent breakfast
I reserved all rooms for our Ramblers group for a walking trip. The rooms were clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful . The breakfasts were prepared to order and were excellent.
The bike storage was poor. It looked like a junk shed, and it had no roof, which left the bikes exposed to the elements.
Facilities
9/10
On-site parking is available and is convenient. The hotel provides ground floor access who require it. This makes entry and exit easier. A five minute walk takes you to the city center.
Dining

Breakfast included full English options, cereals, fruit, and toast. The hotel provided a special dinner service. The food was AMAZING!!! Homemade steak and ale pie, cottage pie, and vegetarian options were served. Packed lunches were prepared for our picnics.
Location
9/10
The hotel is within walking distance of the center. The location allows easy access to the town's attractions. There is a river view from rooms. This is a great feature for enjoying your stay.

Excellent Stay with River Views

friendly staff good breakfast handy location
I found the staff very friendly and helpful throughout my stay. The breakfast was very good and it was served in a conservatory (overlooking the river, of course!). The location is handy, so it allowed me to easily access the railway station and main attractions nearby.
The communal hallway areas had a noticeable smell of stale cigarette smoke. This was quite unpleasant.
Rooms
9/10
The room was spacious and comfortable. It featured nice quality furniture. The bathroom included a great shower over the bath. I was very pleased with the room that I had, which overlooked the river.
Service
9/10
The staff were attentive. They provided information about getting around the area. They even helped me charge my phone, as I had forgotten my charger. This level of service greatly enhanced my stay.
Dining
10/10
Breakfast included a full English option. cereals, fruit, and toast were available (I appreciated the variety). Sitting in the dining area overlooking the river made for a good start to each day.

The breakfast included good quality sausage and bacon (better than many other hotels offer). Friendly staff worked in the hotel. The location offered a nice view over a river inlet.
