Review summary
Based on recent reviews

Hotel Rex, set in a spacious period building, is particularly appreciated for its seafront location, convenient for the beach and shops. Guests often mention the spacious rooms, some offering stunning sea views and comfortable beds, alongside convenient amenities like tea and coffee. The freshly cooked breakfast is a highlight, while a few guests have noted that the restaurant, located in the basement, feels a bit dark. The hotel also provides garage parking, which is a great advantage, especially during the busy summer months.

attentive staffterrible showerkey inconvenience
the staff were attentive and served beverages efficiently (i did tip them).
My room faced the back, so there was no view at all. the shower was terrible. It dribbled water more than it sprayed. also, i had to leave my key at reception every time i went out. It seemed like being back in boarding school (but less fun).

The staff decorated the table for our anniversary dinner. Balloons and banners were in the room upon arrival, wishing us a happy anniversary. I found this thoughtful service.

The hotel had some issues . The room decor seemed very old fashioned. The provided toiletries were quite poor. The chairs in the room were also noticeably worn. I think improvements are needed to provide a better experience.

The room was dated. The chairs had noticeable wear. I found the provided toiletries were of poor quality. A breakfast was not included, a point of dissatisfaction for me.

perfect locationwine costexcessive cost
the room was immaculate. the location was perfect for the beach and town centre.
i found the cost of a bottle of wine excessive. a bottle of mcguigan classic chardonnay that retails for approximately £5.25 was sold for £25.00. this pricing seems quite unreasonable.
