Artist Residence Brighton - A quirky townhouse hotel with individually designed rooms and seaside views near The Lanes

Artist Residence Brighton occupies an eclectic townhouse near The Lanes and North Laine, approximately a 15-minute walk from Brighton train station. The hotel features individually designed rooms, some with sea-view balconies, roll-top baths, and murals by local artists like Fox Fisher. Accommodations range from compact Shoebox rooms with floor-to-ceiling arched windows to larger sea-view bedrooms with super-king beds and statement bathtubs. The Boot Factory serves as an all-day café and bar, offering a courtyard garden and ping-pong table, while The Lookout provides cocktails with coastal views. Guests can walk to local landmarks like The Regency Town House (0.5 km) or SEA LIFE Brighton (1 km). A continental breakfast is available each morning at Artist Residence Brighton.

Pros

The individually designed rooms feature original artwork and bespoke furniture, including sea-view balconies in select accommodations.

The Boot Factory offers a lively all-day dining space with a ping-pong table, photobooth, and garden courtyard.

Prime location within walking distance of The Lanes, North Laine, and several independent galleries.

Cons

Some rooms, like the Shoebox category, are compact with limited space for luggage.

The lower-ground-floor rooms are situated beneath the restaurant, which may result in occasional noise.

Artist Residence Brighton is widely appreciated for its stylish and characterful rooms, some offering stunning bay window views overlooking the i360 and the sea. The hotel's location is ideal, with the beach, shops, and restaurants within easy walking distance, and a car park conveniently located directly opposite. Guests often highlight the delicious breakfast, freshly made and of high quality, and while some found the lighting in certain rooms a bit dim, many enjoy the unique, artsy vibe throughout the hotel.

The room was lovely. the service was awful. the hotel felt more like a hip bar. the staff seemed to have no clue about hotel service. basic hotel management was bad, they lost part of our luggage.

great locationdim lightingclaustrophobic room
The location was alright. It's close to the sea.
the room was far from ideal. the lighting was dim thanks to only one filament bulb, and the room felt claustrophobic. a small portable fan did little to combat the heat, and the window opened onto a less than appealing patio area.

Charming Stay by the Sea

quality productscozy detailsfluffy towelscomfortable bed
The room was very neat and equipped with quality Bramley products. The decor had simple cozy details (i thought it was charming). I enjoyed the big fluffy towels provided in the bathroom. The bed was comfortable offering a restful night's sleep.
The opening hours were inconsistent so it was difficult to plan the meals.
Facilities
9/10
The hotel features a ping pong room. I saw some interesting artwork on the walls throughout the hotel. Exotic cocktails were available, and the hotel also offered takeaway options.
Service

Fresh breakfast was prepared individually (i liked that a lot). They are very friendly, ensuring every need is met with a smile.
Location

The hotel is close to town, with access to local shops. It is also near the seaside. Public parking is available directly opposite the hotel, made things easier for me.
