Riad Dar One - A traditional guesthouse in the heart of Mellah with Moroccan dining and historic charm

Riad Dar One stands out as a traditional guesthouse with five soberly decorated rooms, featuring exposed beams and private bathrooms with bathtubs or walk-in showers. The property includes a central patio with deep-set sofas, a wall fountain, and shaded lounges for relaxation. A continental breakfast is served at Riad Dar One, with optional three-course menus featuring Moroccan specialties like spicy salads and honey-baked apple desserts. Located in Mellah, the ancient Jewish quarter, it is a 10 to 15-minute walk from Bahia Palace, Badi Palace, and Jemaa El Fna square. Nearby dining options include La Table de Marrakech (0.5 km) and Les Terrasses de Marrakech (0.5 km). Moroccan cuisine workshops led by an English-speaking cook are available for small groups.

Pros

The historic setting in Mellah provides authentic proximity to Bahia Palace and local markets.

Moroccan culinary workshops offer hands-on experience in preparing traditional dishes.

The central patio and shaded lounges create a relaxed atmosphere for socializing or unwinding.

Cons

The narrow streets of Mellah may limit vehicle access for drop-offs.

The staff was helpful. They arranged a taxi for me to a local restaurant. My room had air conditioning, a huge plus in the heat. The breakfast had traditional options. I tried something new each morning. The rooftop terrace was peaceful.
The lighting in the room was quite dim, made reading at night difficult. There were no toiletries in the bathroom besides soap and shampoo. The alleyway leading to the hotel was not well lit. I had to use my phone's flashlight at night.
