I booked this hotel expecting a decent meal, but dinner was disappointing. i ordered the battered fish, it tasted like reheated frozen food, i think. the hot buffet at breakfast seemed old and not very fresh. It looked like it had been sitting out for a while by 8 am. catering at this hotel has always been a letdown, quite disappointing.

The location was excellent for accessing the a1. the room was very clean. the staff were also very friendly and helpful throughout my stay. They handled all requests with efficiency and a smile.

i noticed the ev charging point was out of service. this was inconvenient as i relied on it for my electric vehicle.

i really loved how quiet my room was, overlooking peaceful fields. the receptionist exuded such warmth and friendliness, everything was smooth.

i noticed the absence of readily available power outlets near the bed, slightly inconvenient. additionally, the air conditioning in the room wasn't working, though a fan was provided as an alternative.

An Excellent Getaway

I found the staff to be very positive. Easy parking exists. Rooms are clean. Dan at the front desk was very nice and friendly when I arrived on 2025-08-01 at 20:00. He was kind enough to tell me what I could get before I left early in the morning when I checked out to continue my travel.

The sink in the room was leaking on to the floor. Sadly, I asked for a twin bedroom but I was given a kingsized bed. The confirmation I received was not clear.

The hotel has an EV charging point in the car park. Ensure you have a good charge when you arrive. The charging point has a handwritten notice that states it is not working.

Breakfast includes a good selection of hot options. Cold meats and pastries are available. Fresh fruit salads are present. On the first breakfast, almost everything was ready before it was due to start.

The comfortable clean room has a clean bathroom. There are excellent alternatives in town. The bar was ok the first night, but it was expensive. Saturday, it had run out of one on tap and bottles.

The hotel is well situated not far off the A1(M). I found that SatNav and postcode do not get you to the hotel. Leave the A1 at Jnc 59, then take the A167 North. Turn left after the McDonald's.
