Bath Place Hotel - A 17th-century cottage-style hotel in Oxford's historic center with off-street parking

Set in a cluster of 17th-century cottages around a flagstone courtyard, Bath Place Hotel provides ensuite rooms with digital flat-screen TVs, minibars, and tea/coffee facilities. The New College bell tower, in use since the 13th century, is visible from some rooms. Guests can enjoy a continental breakfast buffet with Italian salami and freshly baked croissants in the dining room or via room service. The adjacent Turf Tavern, reputedly Oxford's oldest inn, serves drinks just steps from the property. Located seconds from the Sheldonian Theatre and Bodleian Library, the hotel is 200 meters from the History of Science Museum. A lounge with fireplace and free Wi-Fi are available, while off-street parking costs £30 per day (bookable in advance). Pets are permitted in certain rooms for a £15 fee.

Pros

The 17th-century cottages feature original sloping floors and narrow staircases, adding historic charm.

Prime location within walking distance of New College, Hertford College, and multiple museums.

Continental breakfast includes authentic Italian salami and freshly baked croissants.

Pet-friendly rooms available with a one-time fee of £15 for stays under two nights.

Cons

Some stairs and corridors are unusually narrow due to the building's 17th-century architecture.

Off-street parking costs £30 per day and requires advance booking.

sad breakfastbroken shower door
i was honestly expecting a bit more for what i paid. the 'continental breakfast' was just sad, a roll and some pastries. seriously?? on top of that, the room needed a serious update. the shower door nearly fell off!

Charming stay in historic setting

central locationattentive stafftea servicecomfortable bed
The location is definitely integral to the city center, so it afforded me excellent access to shops and pubs. The staff were great. I found in-room tea service generous. It included biscuits. The bed was comfortable.
The floors were uneven (i noticed that), something elderly guests might struggle with.
Dining
8/10
The breakfast offered ample portions, though not extravagant. Guests get adequate choices. I thought the breakfast staff were especially pleasant (it was a highlight!). The experience was good.
